10 st weeks of pregnancy: nerve cells multiply

At 12 weeks your foetus is about 61 millimetres long and weighs about 14 grams. The face is more developed and the nails are starting to grow. The vital organs are now all partially formed, the nerve cells are multiplying, as are the synaptic connections, already resulting in a number of reflexes in the foetus. The amniotic sac, the fetus and the amniotic fluid are clearly visible on ultrasound. The foetus is fully developed in its water sac and is often very active, even if you do not yet feel its movements. The risk of miscarriage is greatly reduced, making this 10th week of pregnancy an ideal time to announce your pregnancy to your family.
