19 weeks pregnant, or 17 weeks after conception: the production of vernix

At this stage of pregnancy, growth slows down a little in order to consolidate all the nerve connections that have previously developed. The skin of your unborn baby is now covered with a whitish, waxy substance called vernix caseosa.
Vernix acts as a waterproof barrier against the drying effects of months of immersion in amniotic fluid and from cold and infection at the time of birth.
