38 weeks pregnant, or 36 weeks after conception: waiting for labour to begin?

At 38 weeks pregnant, your baby has almost reached its final height and weight.
At this stage, your baby may weigh around 3.3 kg and measure 50 cm. You could go into labour at any moment.
Currently, what causes the onset of labour remains somewhat of a mystery. Researchers believe that a biochemical dialogue between the placenta and fetus occurs, resulting in the release of the contraction hormone oxytocin.
