41 weeks pregnant, or 39 weeks after conception: the possibility of an induction

You are nearing the end of your pregnancy. Your baby's organs are ready to function outside the womb. Some of them will have to adapt, particularly the heart and lungs. Indeed, when your baby is born, the organs change from functioning in a liquid environment to functioning in an air environment. The oxygenation of the foetus provided by the placenta during intra-uterine life is now carried out by the lungs, which have become autonomous.

If your delivery does not arrive by your due date, do not worry. This is a very common situation for most women. Your baby may want a few more days.

But as you approach 42 days' gestation, an induction will be considered.

One thing is certain: your baby will be here soon!
